With my wife Jana. While we were staying in Bad Ischl on this
trip I witnessed one of the most remarkable sights of my life. It was a
lightning storm during a snow storm in heavy fog. I can't pretend to be
able to describe the stunning view of lightning reflecting off the snow
and fog in the deep valleys and surrounding heights of the Austrian Alps.

I found out that this was a statue of Dr. Franz de Paula Augustin Wirer, in front of the Conference Center in Bad Ischl. In 1994 I hadn't a clue.
His Wikipedia article can be read here.
