In 1994 my wife accepted a position directing an international high school in the tiny village of Hluboka nad Vltava. Located about 10 kilometers outside Czeske Budovice this beautiful location in southern Bohemia lies along the Vltava (called the Moldau by the nearby Germans) and features a spectacular castle that is a copy of Windsor castle. This delapitated tower is reached through a nearby forest and fulfilled a function I'm sure. I just don't know what it was!

One of the things I did on my frequent visits (I commuted from my job in L.A.) was try to tour the different Napoleonic battlefields within driving distance. I found a few of the pictures I took at the time and decided to put them up for those who might be interested. They are not comprehensive and I suspect I'll find more pictures over time. One visit I made several times was to the Army Museum in Vienna. I've only the one picture at the moment (over there to the right) but I know I took dozens more.

Here's a short series on the battlefield at Wagram. In fact, there's only pictures of a couple of monuments at the moment but there you go...
Still in Austria, here is a view of the imperial yellow palace at Schoenbrunn, in Vienna. It's downtown and well worth the time to visit.

I made two separate visits to the battlefield of Austerlitz, one on the same day as the battle, December 2nd. These pictures are from the first visit however.
I took a lot of pictures of Prague, one of the world's most beautiful cities. Strangely, this is the only one I can find at the moment...

A beautiful city in Austria is Bad Ischl. It is a spa city and has, oddly enough, a monument from the Napoleonic era.
